Puppy Training Program
From the moment you start, all your puppy questions will be answered, and we’ll provide expert guidance on foundational training, including potty training, crate training, and essential commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “come.” We’ll also show you how to teach your puppy to walk calmly on a leash, prevent undesirable behaviors such as chewing, nipping, and jumping, and guide you through how to manage your puppy’s energy in a productive way.
Our program goes beyond basic obedience. We focus on building a positive relationship between you and your puppy, teaching you how to communicate effectively and set clear boundaries. We’ll help you integrate training into your daily routine, making it easy to fit into your busy schedule while still ensuring your puppy’s development. You’ll also learn about the importance of early socialization, how to introduce your puppy to new environments, people, and other pets safely, and how to boost their confidence in the world around them.
Whether you’re a first-time puppy owner or looking for a refresher, this program will set you up to become the ultimate pet parent. We are here to support you every step of the way, helping your puppy grow into a well-mannered, confident dog who will thrive for years to come.

Frequently asked Questions
Before booking a consultation and starting your dog’s training journey, we understand you may have some questions. Below, you’ll find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions to help you prepare. If you have any additional questions or need further clarification, feel free to reach out to us directly.
All new clients are required to book an initial consultation before beginning any training program. This consultation lasts up to two hours and is typically held at your home or a public location of your choice. During this time, we will discuss your training goals, address any questions or concerns, and evaluate your dog’s behavior to develop a personalized training plan. To ensure a smooth start, we ask that your dog is either leashed, crated, or in a separate room upon our arrival. You can also request a complimentary phone call prior to the in-person consultation to discuss preliminary details.
Before your consultation, please ensure that all dogs (with an exception puppies) are up to date on their vaccinations. You will need a 4-6 ft leash (flexible/retractable leashes are not recommended), and we encourage having your dog’s favorite treats readily available for training. Additionally, we recommend wearing comfortable clothes suitable for hands-on training. While note-taking is encouraged, we will also send a detailed follow-up email summarizing the consultation for your convenience.
Our lead trainer, Mackenzie, is highly skilled in a variety of training techniques, including clicker training, front-clip harnesses, and prong collars. However, we prioritize your comfort and will never pressure you to use any tool that makes you uncomfortable. We’ll work with you to find alternatives that suit your dog’s needs. If necessary, we will evaluate whether a muzzle is appropriate to ensure safety for everyone involved. With over 20 years of combined experience, the trainers at Sunfire Canines are here to guide you in selecting the best tools to achieve optimal results tailored to your dog’s unique needs.
